Extensive hydrolyzed formula milk still contains cow’s milk protein, but has been broken down into smaller components. This process makes hydrolyzed formula milk tolerable by most children who have cow’s milk allergies with mild to moderate symptoms.

Amino acid formulas contain free amino acids (the simplest form of protein) that can be tolerated by children with severe milk allergy symptoms. Amino acid-based formulas are recommended for children with cow’s milk protein allergy who continue to exhibit allergic reactions and poor growth when using extensive hydrolyzate formulas.

The soya formula is made from vegetable protein isolate sourced from soybeans, aka soya. The soy protein isolate formula is made by separating the purest protein from other parts of the soybean.

During the manufacturing roroslot process, the fat, lactose, gluten, etc., are also separated so that the final product contains very little carbohydrates or fat. As a result, soy formula milk has a denser protein content and is lower in fat.

Current soy isolate formulas are made from soy protein isolate which contains 2.2-2.6 g of protein per 100 calories, making it higher than cow’s milk formula.

When compared, children who consumed soy protein isolate showed a growth and development pattern that was equivalent to cow’s milk formula. Children who consume soy protein isolate also have metabolic function, bone health and immune systems that are as good as children who receive cow’s milk formula.

This is because apart from being high in protein, the soy protein isolate formula is also easy to digest and is still suitable for children who are allergic to cow’s milk because it contains high levels of amino acids which are enriched with L-methionine, L-carnitine and taurine. Soy protein isolate is also generally fortified with zinc, iron, phosphorus and calcium to help support children’s growth and development.
